Energized to mobilize the people of God to evangelize is visualized by the 9th Pastor of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Indianapolis, Indiana.  Born December 4, 1963 in East Chicago, Indiana, Carl Z. Liggins was destined for a journey that was designed by God.

 

At an early age, he began utilizing the gifts that were placed in him at the Zion Missionary Baptist Church in East Chicago, under the pastorate of the Rev. Dr. J. C. Wade, Jr.  There, God was preparing him for Kingdom Building, serving as an Associate Minister, Children Church Minister, Tape Ministry Coordinator, Television Ministry Coordinator, Sunday School Teacher, and a Boy Scout Advisor.

 

After moving to Jackson, Mississippi in 1993, he united with the Friendship Baptist Church, where he served as an Associate Minister.

 

Having served with diligence, as an Associate Pastor, God’s Divine Design became plain when He bestowed upon him the “Call of Pastorate” at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Lambert, Mississippi in 1997.  While there he was committed to building people of purpose, prayer, power, praise and prosperity.  Under his pastorate, he birthed the Morning Star Community Outreach, Inc., a nonprofit organization created to assist and nurture the lost in realizing their potential through self sufficiency and empowerment.

 

In April, 2006, he was called to Pastor the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Locust Grove, Georgia.  There he brought a vision to evangelize, equip, and empower the members of this congregation.

 

Education, along with determination, and his quest for knowledge is evident in his life.  After graduation from Washington High School in East Chicago, he received diplomas from the Omega School of Communications in Chicago, and the Art Institute of Atlanta.  He matriculated his studies at the Inter-Denominational Theological Center-Marks, Mississippi Campus; Indiana Christian College in Gary, and Purdue University-Calumet Campus.  Continually studying to show himself approved unto God, the Rev. Dr. Carl Z. Liggins, Sr. received a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education, Masters of Divinity, and Doctorate of Ministry from Global Evangelical Christian College in Montgomery, Alabama.

 

In addition to his love for preaching, the Rev. Dr. Carl Z. Liggins, Sr., truly enjoys music.  Serving as a Gospel radio personality, as well as television host in Jackson, Mississippi, he has interviewed such world-renown artists as Kirk Franklin, Dottie Peoples, Max Frank, Marvin Sapp, Rev. Armond Brown of the DFW Mass Choir, the late Rev. James Moore, David Curry of the Mississippi Mass Choir and the Williams Brothers.

 

The Rev. Dr. Carl Z. Liggins, Sr. is married to Sheryl Burns Liggins.  They have two sons, Carl Zivon, and Christian DeVaughn.

 

The Rev. Dr. Carl Z. Liggins, Sr. is a reflection of Christ.  He exemplifies this through his expository and anointed preaching coupled with his love and commitment to addressing the spiritual, physical, emotional, and socio-economic needs of all God’s people.

Proverbs 31:10-11 says, "Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil."

 

Lady Sheryl B. Liggins was born on June 24, 1960, in Jackson, MS. to the late Simon P. Burns and Alice Warnick.

 

During her her early years she attended the Jackson Public School system, Central High School, attended Jackson State University and received her Bachelor Degree in Childhood Education from Global Evangelical Christian College in Weptumpka, Al.

 

While residing in Jackson, Ms., Lady Liggins was a faithful member of the Friendship Baptist Church where she served in various ministries including Youth Ministry Leader, Sanctuary Choir, Pastor's Aid Ministry, and Finance.

 

On December 5, 1993, Lady Sheryl married the love of her life, The Rev. Carl Z. Liggins. Though this union were born two sons, Carl Z. Liggins, Jr. and Christian D. Liggins for a total of seven children.

 

In October 1997, Pastor Liggins excepted the call to pastor the Morning Star Baptist Church in Lambert, Ms. Lady Sheryl continued to work for the kingdom as she organized "The Women Of Virtue" Women's Conference, the first women's conference in Quitman County, MS. Due to her initiatives and untiring labor, this conference
continues today!

 

In April 2006, Dr. Carl Z. Liggins, Sr. answered the call to the Bethlehem Baptist Church of Locust Grove, Ga. Following her husband not only in mission but also in ministry Lady Liggins served as Chairwoman of the Women's Ministry, where she formed the Nursing Home Outreach, distributing gifts, blankets, and personal accessories to
seniors.

 

Today, Lady Liggins continues here work for the kingdom being the advisor for the Little Voices of the Mount Children's Choir, Youth Sunday School Teacher at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Indianapolis, YWA Instructor and Corresponding Secretary of the Union District Young People's Department of the Union District
Association of the Indiana Missionary Baptist State Convention and The National Baptist Convention, USA where she has also participated in the Minister's Wife's Division for 20 years.

 

Lady Sheryl Liggins lives by her motto:
